Father and Child

What in life has prepared me,
for this responsibility,
holding your fragile life
in my hands, I was not taught
to be a man by the father
that helped conceive me , but
I will give you my all
completely, scared to make
his mistakes, I will not
walk in his footsteps ,
love will guide me
and show me the way,
I will not run ,
my love for you makes
me the better man,
looking at your fragile
face, no greater love
will I ever know, as
the bond between us grows,
holding you in my hands
now more of a man than my
father would allow himself to be,
I accept this duty,
unconditionally.
